And So The Journey Begins

I feel it necessary to start my first blog post with one of my favorite quotes. It motivates me to continue on my course and reminds me that a passion for food is not always made in a culinary classroom. My journey to restaurant stardom is of the unconventional nature.  Growing up, I have always been interested in and around the restaurant business. With both my mother and sister working in the industry, I had the opportunity to dine at some of the best restaurants in Las Vegas, even as a little kid. These experiences became my foundation for my ongoing love affair with good food and its preparation.

I took the part of the quote “no one is born a great cook, one learns by doing” to heart. I didn’t go to culinary school like most Chef hopefuls; I went to a liberal arts college in southern California and received a business administration degree. After school, I decided that on-the-job training would be my way to learning the culinary arts. My goal is to work every position in a restaurant so I can be a more understanding, successful leader.

Now being in culinary world for two and a half years, I’ve worked in two very different kitchens. Prior to starting each job, I had no experience in that particular style of cooking. I just took a leap of faith and decided to see what I was made of. The only true way to maximize your potential is by testing your limits and putting yourself in uncomfortable situations. Doing so means that failure is a guarantee on my journey- I accept this.  How I grow from that failure is what makes all the difference.  I am not the best at what I do (yet), but I always stay hungry for more.

So I hope that you take this journey with me, and you enjoy the content I put up. I’ll share some of the tips I learn, the food from our adventures, and the best recipes I test. Let me know if you have anything to share or recommend! My hope is to inspire you to try new things in the kitchen, taste new foods, seek out new restaurants in different cities, and be part of my dream. Thank you for reading and stay hungry!
