I have always whole heartedly believed that you should give back to those who are less fortunate than you. I am not a wealthy person, but I have more than most. I have been blessed in life with many opportunities that most will never get to experience.
In a nation full of opportunities, it’s sad that 1 in 5 children don’t get the food they need on a daily basis. Over 16 million kids struggle with hunger, and in Nevada, 1 in 4 children do not get their proper daily nutrition. Out of 170,000 low income children receiving free or reduced priced lunch, only 47% of them are getting breakfast and 6% are eating summer meals. Children who eat a proper breakfast before school are more likely to attend class, get better grades, and graduate from high school. No Kid Hungry is an important warrior in the fight against childhood hunger in the US.
“The No Kid Hungry campaign connects kids in need with nutritious food and teaches their families how to cook healthy, affordable meals. The campaign also engages the public to make ending child hunger a national priority.
We’re working to end child hunger in America by connecting kids to effective nutrition programs like school breakfast and summer meals. This work is accomplished through the No Kid Hungry network, made up of private citizens, government officials, business leaders, and others providing innovative hunger solutions in their communities. These partners work together, implementing solutions that break down the barriers that keep kids from healthy food….”
