The French term meaning “putting in place” or “everything in its place.” Every good cook knows that you need to have everything ready before you can start a service or execute a recipe. Without Mise en place you are preparing to fail. First step is making sure that you read through the entire recipe. This will ensure that you know how long this recipe will take and everything that you need, so you can plan accordingly. Next you will need to get all of your ingredients together and prep them as the recipe calls for. Dice the onions, blanch broccolini , measure out the spices, etc. Also get all of your equipment ready before you begin cooking so that when you start you don’t have to stop. Organization of your Mise en place will streamline your cooking process.
